The Donkey Downstairs

I thought today I would write about this poor little donkey that is tied up to a light post waiting for the owner of him to sell his fruits and take the wagon home.

Each morning, Donkey brings the wagon and it's set up under my window, he is hitched to a light post on a small road divider without water or shelter from the hot sun and no food. The Egyptians don't feel the need to treat animals well, they don't realize these animals are their transportation and the means of their livelyhood. I see this all over Cairo not just under my window. I hear this donkey baying HEE HAW HEE HAW I wonder what he is saying?

It's so funny to be inside traffic in the middle of the largest city in the Mid East and still see people with donkey carts and herds of sheep getting thru the crowded car infested streets. I call it the old with the new. YET ! IT WORKS……… 🙂

  3. What a nice piece of Eqyptian culture to share!

That kind of treatment would never work in the US… the animal rights people would have a party.

I wonder if any other country has animal rights…

  4. HI Kay, I think most of the more civilized countries have animal rights, I am sure Egypt will never have them since they don’t even have HUMAN RIGHTS !
I have been in touch with the PETA org concerning the shooting of street dogs in Cairo, it’s all over the net, I even found a site in Aussie that is trying to help and the people here just say, well how else do we get rid of them? 🙁 Like I said Animals even though were put on our earth by God and they are for our use and companionship they are not for others.
I just read online there was an explosion in the world famous Khan El Kaneiti, spelling is off, it’s one of the oldest market places in the world, I am sure this Gov will just pass it off as a gas tank explosion 🙁 they never tell the truth on state run tv thank G I have satelite I will see the truth.
