HI Everyone,
I rec'd an email a while ago called, " WHAT'S IN YOUR BOX?" and it gave me a lot to think about.
I don't know if men keep a box of rememebraces collected the way women do. So maybe this is mostly for women? If it reflects to you please post.
Women seem to save things that mean something to only them. So here is what WAS in my box and what is there NOW.
I saved all my cards for my children all 5 of them, their birthday cards, Christmas cards, baby shower cards, all from the time before they were born up to the time of reasonable age not to save any longer.
I had in my box my swimming ribbons I won from the age of 11 to 15 I took State championship in many events and times, these ribbons reminded me of a chance I had to become an Olympic member, however, missed opportunity.
I had a ring from a girl friend of mine when I left boarding school she gave me. It was from her Grandmother and her and I were good friends and she wanted me to remember her as I always have.
A saphire ring my father gave me for my 13th birthday. The only thing left from my father.
I had a pendant from a boyfriend from high school I was going steady with him for a while.
I had 2 sets of wedding rings from failed marriages.
I had my oldest daughters first tooth she lost.
Some pins of my mothers, she was a pin person. Her broken watch. My mothers white sweater, her favoite.
Loads of photographs from before I had children to long after .
Certificates of a few courses I took and never used them again. Sorta like hobbies I guess.
Now all I have are : 1 swimming ribbon, the pendant from my HS BF, some photographs not as many, some pins of my mothers, the ring my GF gave me, some new cards I rec'd from co workers at my going away party in Dec 2004. My fathers saphire ring.
I gave all the cards to each of the children to whom they belonged to and the tooth also 🙂
I gave all the photographs minus the ones I wanted to the oldest child first and she took what she wanted and passed the box around.
The two sets of wedding rings, one set I gave my oldest grandson that he may use them, and the other set I gave to my oldest granddaughter for her to use when she grow up.
My mothers broken watch to my oldest daughter who remembered her wearing it. Her white sweater I had to beg someone to take it, I don't know why, I think if I remember correctly my 3 daughter took it.
So now what's in your box ?
Thanks for reading 🙂
HI Artman, thank you for posting your box, I feel it’s not what’s inside it actually, it’s the meanings of why we keep them.
I too won an award for writing an essay on John Jay AUDUBON. Where the soceity was started for wild birds. I won a silver dollar, in those days it was a big deal however, not realizing the worth I spent it.
… Several divorce decrees.
… Newspaper clippings questioning my whereabouts.
… A letter from American Express telling me to leave home without it.
… Court Orders of one sort or another.
… A letter from the church rescending my baptism.
… ‘Tale of Topographic Oceans’ by Yes.
… A nude pic of Aunt Bea.

I wouldn’t expect less from you 🙂
I forgot to put my cd collection in the box however, they are so huge they have a box of their own. That’s another posting 🙂
Thanks for your reply your Holiness 🙂
Eve,
It took a while (as I warned you before. LOL) but here’s the content of my box of memories:
– A small gospel book given by a loved friend;
– Some books I’ve read, which added something to my life and character;
– A small Christ cross given by my grandma;
– a giant banner made by some friends for my 19th birthday;
– some pictures from the time I had a band and played in night clubs (3 years ago);
– All letters from my ex-girlfriend;
– The first Bible I got. Actually I bought it myself;
– Some burned CDs with good memories songs.
Listening to Radiohead – ‘High and Dry’
Dan
Actually, mine is a drawer and not a box…
–Baby clothes that each of my children wore home from the hospital
–My daughter’s bowling league shirt from when she was six
–My Grandmother’s watch
–My mother’s watch
–My brother’s ring
–Lots of photographs– mine and my mother’s collection
–My mother’s string of pearls
–A sea shell the man I love found on the beach and gave to me
–A cassett tape of one of my bother’s musical compositions
–Letters from the exchange student from Japan who lived with me 14 years ago.
–The merit badges I earned when I was a Girl Scout
–My high school Class ring
–My journals
Asking what is in my box allowed me a few minutes to remember all those things that I have in my drawer. I didn’t even have to open it. I just knew what was in it! But, I remembered all the things in there and the reason why I kept them. I was an nice journey… thank you for reminding me to remember.

HI Kay . You are so welcome 🙂
I too when I received this in email made me think also and then I remembered I also have loads of cds however, they are in a box of their own since I have or had hundreds now over 200.
You would be surprised how many people do NOT have a box, I really do believe it is more men than women but you never know.
Happy to see you posted take care and intouch
Eve
HI Eztigma, it does seem your box is high tech, and it’s really nice to see MEN do save memories of the heart. Thank you for postins as well.
