A funny thing happened on the way

I found this personal ad on a site and I just couldn't help myself 😉

I replied to it with some home made poetry and sent it off, the answer to it is at the end of this posting.

I’m looking for conversation that leaves me smiling and shaking my head in wonderment. I want my cheeks to hurt. I want to see life from yet another angle. I want to learn something new. I want to flirt. I want to share my ideas. I want my brain to hurt. I want to discuss lucid dreaming and how it seems to be leaking into my waking life. Anything beyond that is just icing on the cake.

I’m a very handsome person – inside and out. I’ve got a passion for life that is filled with optimism. I love new experiences. I’m very confident. I love travel – have lived abroad twice – and speak several languages (some of which are spoken by other people too). I’m creative. I’m always trying to grow…since I’m 5’8”. I love reading books that stretch my mind. I love getting chills from musical theater. I enjoy all types of amazing foods – but stay in good shape. Making music makes me smile…and I’ve got a warm smile. I love discussing philosophy, science, current events and life. Mountains, trees and water were some fine inventions. I have endless patience – and I am a fabulous listener. I’m also extremely honest and open. Hopefully – you are willing to overlook all this – and join me for a conversation anyway.

I’d love it if you were wildly intelligent and beautiful. Confident enough to know how great you are – but always searching for ways to make yourself better. You know how to make people laugh. You’re willing to try new things – including new foods. You’re kind and honest. You’ve got a life you love – and you are very independent. You’re beautiful – inside and out. You love to kiss, touch, and be looked at. You’re single and very available and have a passion for life.

I did get a reply from this man and as I figured he stated to me… What wonderful words and if ONLY a face to match them.. please send pic.

I said I expected a different reply from a man with words such as yours however, I know how beautiful I am inside and out and there isn't any reason for you to SEE THE FACE BEHIND MY WORDS.. I didn't ask to see yours did I?

    An interesting story and an insight into what,perhaps, was in the co-respondents’ mind? It is not surprising that some folk require a photo to ‘fit in’ with their own concept of ‘beauty’. or sometimes it is simply a request ‘to know more’about the person they are trying to ‘match up’ with. External beauty, while being a powerful physical component -is not always the ‘prime factor’ in what attracts one person to another. You gave part of the answer yourself when you said

    “I know how beautiful I am inside and out and there isn’t any reason for you to SEE THE FACE BEHIND MY WORDS.. I didn’t ask to see yours did I?”

    …but it is often the case that curiosity is also a motivating factor and that is, perhaps, why some folk want to know who they are connecting with (I use who advisedly -for other folk simply want physical appearances to “ring their bell”, so to say).

    I can understand why a person would ask for a photo ONCE you have known them thru words for a while but to say,” YOURS GETS MINE” 🙂 I am not desparate so who cares what “Shallow HAL” looks like 🙂

    I just knew this person would give me the repsonse he did and this verified my feelings.
