July 4th memories

Today is a holiday in USA .. INDEPENDANCE DAY..

memories

Each year I reflect upon this day when I was living with my parents.
A fun filled day for myself and my 2 sisters.

My mother use to pack up our beach blankets and some drinks and towels and we would take a train ride to CONEY ISLAND.. a day of swimming and amusement park rides.
To end this day would be FIREWORKS..:)

A tradition I kept with my children until I moved out of the city and into the country and now my daughter keeps this new found tradition in the country with her children.

This makes me happy and if my Mom was a live it would really place a smile in her heart as well.

I found a fire work video to share with you all and maybe you will get the sense of tradition I feel each year reflecting back on what JULY 4th means to me.

Enjoy and also visit this link about the history of Coney Island

  1. Indepence in our country is cherished very much, because it is only 11 years that Russian tanks left Lithuania. Do Americans cherish this day?

  2. Americans use to cherish this day now its only means a day off and barbeques and big sales at the malls 🙁 this country is losing the foundation it was built on and it was not built with sales and cooked meats. :(Sad but true..Fatimah
