Sony unveils Mylo wireless media player

Sony has just unveiled the Mylo, a portable media player and communications device that seems to defy categorization. Apparently not related to the failed wireless service of the same name that Sony launched in 2001, this Mylo is pure hardware.

It's a media player, so it can handle your music, photos,Z and videos on its 1 GB of flash memory, expandable via a Memory Stick Pro Duo slot. Then it has built-in Wi-Fi, allowing you to access the Web with an Opera browser, chat it up using Google Talk or Yahoo Messenger (however not AIM for some reason), and even talk to people via Skype.

Furthermore, you can share songs with fellow Mylo users wirelessly if they're in the area. A full QWERTY keyboard should make typing a much less painful experience than UMPCs like the Q1. The only thing missing from the Mylo that would make it a must-have gadget is a cell phone, but you can't win 'em all.

The Mylo will hit stores next month for $350.

  2. I thought being it mentioned OPERA BROWSER I would post this article.I see Opera is getting well known now if only they can fix their freaking servers :(so tired of being locked out and having to sign in again and refresh refresh refresh.!:(

  7. I haven’t said this very often, but my goodness the Mylo is really very pretty. I find myself wanting one of those. Would I ever use it? Probably not….But, it sure is pretty 😆

  10. It really is a high-tech gadget. I am not quite sure, whether it can compete with a PDA, despite the price difference between them.
