Two Wolves

Cherokee Wisdom…..

Music

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a
Battle that goes on inside people.
He said,
"My son, The battle is between two 'wolves'
inside us all."

One is Evil.
It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
Greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment
Inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is Good.
It is joy, peace, love, hope,
Serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence,
Empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute
And then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied,
"The one you feed."

  7. Once again Zenya, I love you,A most wonderful poem … vignette or whatever one calls it. I don’t think the idea behgind the words could have been put more eloquently , more directly than whosoever wrote this vignette could have. You talk of dreams. Let me talk of reality… During the last few days I have been telling my students ( and my dear daughter Manasa, just entered her teens) something similar. My exact words were ” There is an angel and what many call as a Devil inside each one of us. So long as we can keep the devil shut up inside a cage and once in a while just say ‘Hai’ to him across the bars AND allow the angel to wake up, come out , dance, and get her back within… dear, you are born over and over again- full of life.” Your postis much more succint and ‘reaching out’ . Can I quote this to my students and possibly the same feather?with Love — born of respect to you and humanity ( please read my mail to one of your archives sent a few minutes before ..) RKK

  8. HI RKK,Yes you would honor me if you did use these words and I feel your students will gainso much insight as well.Thank you for always sharing with me and those who read this blog and also those who gain from you as well.Always,Fatimah
