Churh made of Human Bones
Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction,
and how about 70 kilometers east
the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague,
lies a small town called Sedlec.
It might have been an ordinary enough town,
if not for its extraordinary church
The inside of this church is decorated with artworks
made of real human bones.
The story begins in 1218, when a certain Abbot Henry made a
pilgrimage to the holy land and brought back a jar full of soil from
cemetery, which he spread over the Church.
As a result the church came to be regarded as more sacred and turned
into a popular burial spot.
By 1318, more than 30,000 bodies were buried there and by 1511,
it had become necessary to remove the older bones to make
place for the new ones.
These later became the material for the macabre creations.
In 1870 a local woodcarver was hired by the Duke of Shwartzenberg
to decorate the inside of the church with human remains,
(approximately 40,000 sets of human bones.)
Something rare to enjoy,
Love,

I received this from my friend in Pakistan in an emailand found it to be very moving and beautiful and yet odd.Enjoy with this beautiful music Thank you for reading Fati
Hi, Fati, this is truly amazing, both odd and scary and beautiful. I dont’t how it feels to be inside. Then again as you put it it is the artwork and perhaps should be understood like this. Perhaps it is the only church of this kind. It realy moved me.And thank you for beautiful music. Love, Ramute.:)
HI Ramute and Lee,Yes I feel the same however, I did post it as art and why let bones laydomant and useless when they can add to the life of a church :)Thank you for seeing it as art also.. I never heard of it until I sawthe email and said WOW.. I must share this !Thanks again,LoveFati
Fantastic pictures!Thanks!
Hi:smile: this is truly amazing. Thanks for sharing these :queen: pics with us,Its just :yikes: wonderful. and a new thing that I’ve come across. Thanks once again:p:Sonam:cool:
Wow! This is amazing, both beautiful and very odd…Actually, my fiance has told me about this before, but I could never find pictures about it… Now I see them and I am not quite sure how I feel. I would love to visit one day… Although, as a person who played a lot of video games, I would think the church is the sanctuary for necromancers 🙂 However, now that I know the history and has seen the pictures, it does not feel as hostile…Must be a great contrast between your Mosque posts and Church posts :PThanks for the music to the post, it goes hand in hand 😉
Hi Sonam, thank you for viewing and enjoying the art work and the history of these bones.I like Oddities however, this one is the most odd so far ..Thanks again Fatimah
HI Aleks,Yes it is a nice blend with my Mosques posts and other spiritual postsand when I saw these photos I just knew I must share them as I alwayslove showing rare photos and music . To teach or enlighten any one is a blessing to them and to myself. If one holds knowledge they are being selfish and it serves no purpose .Thank you for feeling the magic of these photos along with the music, I too felt this music really accented the post.Fatimah
Very, very interesting:)I think I noticed an ancestor or two.:D
