I use to have this huge book of poems when I was 12 and this one poem was among
my favorite.
I use to sit under this huge oak tree and read all afternoon so many poems,
my friends would sit around me and let me read to them and we would all be
inspired thru the poems and the mood that was set.
Please enjoy the mood and feel the time of long ago.
When I Am Dead
When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dew drops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.
I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain:
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Happily I may remember,
And happily may forget
:heart:

i liked this:”And if thou wilt, remember,And if thou wilt, forget.”wow. that’s so loving. as if the writer is saying she respects whatever will bring the grieving person peace. now that is love, since wouldn’t we all selfishly want to be remembered? lovely!x
It really is a soulful poem and what makes it even more beautiful is the memories attached along with…

Hi Sarah,Mourning is a good thing it’s the length of time one mourns that turns into something NOT good.We live and remember the times of these people and usually with a smile knowing they lived and had a good life and also gave life in return.Thanks for readingLoveFati

Very strange but a really great day we spent together showing love even though we weren’t any of us IN love 😉
