Christmas Wrappings More Than Paper

Guinevere's Tears

I work on Saturdays for my other company and not to close to my home.

I was working in Barnes and Noble a book store and on this day there was a long table set up for wrapping gifts purchased.

The proceeds would go to a P.T.A. < Parents Teachers Association> Two women volunteering their time.

I started to do my service of the reading glasses
which the rack was close to their table when I heard a tapping on the large window.

One of the ladies got up and went over to the window
where outside was standing a young lady with a small boy next to her.

The volunteer came back after a minute with tears in her eyes and a bit upset..

I asked her if she was ok?
she replied," That was my daughter-in-law and this was the first time in over a year she has spoken to me."

I explained to her that there are many families such as hers and she isn't alone and to know that during the holidays loved ones soften their hearts to seek in their own ways to be forgiven.

She thanked me for listening and being there for her
as well in this time.

I replied, " I am blessed to have witnessed this occasion."

I have always known that gifts come unwrapped
and sometimes not in a box.

always,
With love,
Fatimah
