Stresses and sickness

WEll it happened again, each time I take a job here I get really ill, is it my stress level is low and effects my immune system or is it the germs from all the people I spend 9 hours with ? Each time I take a job which includes a large number of people I get very ill, so now I am not working again .

I have given this DESERT my all and for nothing, I now know you can not give anything to those who refuse to accept it. I live among the living dead and why am I offering life to those who choose to live in death day after day. I have felt their pain however, I chose not to accept it as they have. Acceptance is a good thing however, not for everything.

I have completed a circle of life and now it's time to break the circle and go home. Thank G I can say that. IN Dr. Phils book he stated if you are living a life that is not your life then the stress it causes you causes great illness and sometimes death.

  1. It isn’t a real virus it is the people that you work with. They make you sick in a way because they make the job more difficult than it should be bringing all their garbage and hangups to work with them and then it changes the atmosphere. You may be balanced and your attitudes may be good and then there is them…. They do their little codes to each other and talk about crap and treat you the way they do and the whole day ends up being something you have to endure rather than enjoy. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy doing my actual job but how I cannot wait to get in the car and go home. It is the way it is everywhere. The american worker is not happy with their jobs. We work hard and make less and less. We have unfulfilled lives and do not know how to be fulfilled and look to others to help and take this to work. My advice to you is to not put so much in your job. Put a lot into your life away from the job and working where you do will not seem to matter so much.

  2. Eve,

I have to agree with you about stresses and sickness. I’ve been getting sick a lot lately and so have some of my officemates. We are all very stressed out and it doesn’t help that there are 14 of us in a small cube area. Last time I spent a day in my cube, I got sick. My work is like a big germ swapping area. 🙂 So now try to work at home as much as I can. There is also some truth in Dr. Phil’s theory too. A lot of our sicknesses are mental. Happy people don’t get sick nearly as much.

  3. I agree with you also about work sickness related, I worked in a telemarketing company here in Cairo and got VERY sick, I had to fly back to USA where I was suppose to be hospitalized however, I chose not to . Thank G now I found a doc here who knows how to order medicatations. Happiness and laughing is wonderful medicine, I can’t wait to be back in my country among people whom love to laugh and enjoy life. Stay well my friend just know you are not alone.

  4. You are sooooooooo right, I am fine when I am away from infested jobs and when I am inside them SICK. I was saying to a teacher before I left with my illness, ” I don’t feel I accomplish anything in the day here, I feel I made it out alive” this isn’t a job it’s life or death situation and this is suppose to be an institution for education haha that’s another joke in Egypt. I am tired of giving and never getting anything back not even a thank you, there is no apprecation here from anyone only donkey drivers to drive you back to your home land and thank God I can leave. I worked for myself for over 15 yrs and never was as sick as I have been working with a lot of other people. I think I will go back working alone. Thank you for the comment.

  5. Comments from the time machine: Thanks for your long mail and explaining a lot of things! As you might know I’ve spent much time in Arabic countries. Maybe there is also a difference between being there as a man and being there as a woman. I’ve been three times to Egypt and it wasn’t my favourite country in the Middle East though I liked it somehow too. I always preferred Algeria, Palestine and Syria. There I had an easy life…Bye byeElmar

  6. HI Elmar,Egypt is a great country however the people suck the life out of me and others I know there. The Egyptian people are like blood suckers. I do understand why they are like this however, it’s not the right way to live or be.I have only been to Egypt many times and to Austria for plane transfer to Cairo, I really would have liked to go to other countries before I die however, right now I don’t see this happening unless I win the lottery here in USA :)I hope you weren’t bored reading the lengthy email? Happy spring day here today I am going out :)Eve

  7. Hello Eve,As I said in my comment in the previous post I liked your e-mail. Here the sun is shining and I’ll go for a walk too. There are some reasons for Egypt being different from other Arabic countries. For instance there is a lot of tourism. Like in Morroco it’s getting difficult then even to take a walk. And people often treat you as the western tourist. But also in Egypt if you go to the right places and the right people it can be an excellent country with a nice coptic culture, great ancient stuff, an impressing Islam, good writers and readers and so on.See youElmar

  8. HI Elmar,Yes you are right however, I was living among the regular poor or mid class people and had some connections to Drs and lawyers and professors however where I wanted to move my husband did not but now he does live where I wanted to live with the foreigners.I needed a support system of people who understood my needs not people looking at me for what I can give them or do for them, I too needed and wanted to understand but giving my life to someone who was so much younger than me was MY mistake and I am facing the reactions to it now and I am taking the punishment proudly .I did hear this about Morocco, I wanted to go there also but found it would be very hard for me to deal with the people after going through what I did in Egypt for those years . Your words do help me too Elmar, I know you traveled around and you are worldly where as I only know Egypt :(Thank you for your wisdom and friendship.
