Spring Fling

Hi again from Cairo. I just wanted to tell you about a nice day I had here for a change 🙂

I was invited to attend this Spring Fling that a Canadian school was having as a way to celebrate spring and give the parents a change to see how the school functions for their children.

This school is a private school, owned by an Egyptian however, running under Canadians and I must say it's running very nicely.

The school I worked in was Egyptian owned and runed and it's a far cry from anything I have ever seen or experienced before.

The weather on Friday the 15th couldn't have been nicer, a small breeze lots of sun and even temps. Picture perfect day.

The school had games set up where the children would win prizes and great DJ was playing some nice music from Germany < sorta techno and yet rock> and also some music from USA like rap and other goodies. No one complained it was well fitted into the setting and gave everyone the energy they needed for the day.

They had KFC and PIZZA HUT and other food companies there to provide great foods at a good price. Lots of tables and chairs under tents for shade.

Water dunking game, when the person gets the ball in the hole, the teacher gets a bucket of water poured on him from the next level. LOL he was SOAKED !!! Also the inground pool was open for anyone caring to swim … MMMMMMMMMMMM

I was very happy to see this since the FUN DAY at my school < Egyptian runned> was totally differnt.

AT my school the day was OPEN, which means the kids run around and act wild, no games to play, oh yah they had a dog circus come in for 30 min. to perform, It was a hot day and the dogs were over heated in this old junky station wagon which had no air conditing.

The people and staff had NO places to sit, no tables only the ground and steps.

NO foods from KFC OR PIZZA HUT only BRING YOUR OWN.

A band came with a singer who was Egyptian, I have no idea who it was since he only sang ARabic and from what the kids told me he was sorta famous, huumm I see Egyptian music videos he didn't look familar to me LOL OH maybe he was for the real younger generation.

It was a day of huge headaches to try to keep over 300 kids happy . The pool there was EMPTY no water so no swimming.

The bottom line is this and is always this….

MONEY MATTERS……..

The Egyptians owner and operator wants to keep the money paid from each child to attend their schools in their pockets where as the Egyptian owner Canadian operator wants to give the children a good education and experience and also profit at the same time.

Now for 4,000 dollars you can chose the Egyptian one and for 6, 000 you can chose the Canadian one, I know where I would put my money 🙂

A fun day was had by all at the Canadian school, however, at the Egyptian one, we were calling it our torture day LOL
