Hi all,
I had a day I would like to share with you; it is a day you will not hear from to many people.
Mohamed and I traveled thru the Sahara desert to a city called Ismolia it's near the Suez Canal.
We traveled by car like a taxi but with about 6 other people also going to the same city so the fare was like $1.25 per person to go over 100 miles .
It was so great to see the desert as it is now, with factories, which manufacture products for Egypt and the Mid East in beautiful buildings of different colors so nice on the desert.
Along the road, also you will find watermelon farmers selling their goods. Mango trees and pine trees and fields of corn .Unlike the farms in the USA but small farms containing goats, sheep and donkeys. It is so odd to see this all in the Sahara.
Mohamed and I met his friend and we took a walk to the Suez after seeing the bridge that crosses the Canal it is the largest bridge outside of San Francisco, so great and strong looking.
There is a small crossing at the Suez Canal, there a small ferry transports cars and people across free, it only takes a couple of minutes to cross. When you are on the other side, you are in the Sinai.
Sinai is where the war with Egypt and Israeli was and now there is a monument erected there near the shore line.
We sat at a small dinky cafe having cokes and chips and watching the large freighters go by and seeing all the flags of their countries to identify them and also the cargo they carry thru the Canal…….It's so hard to believe that I was really there and sitting and walking on the Sahara in this part of the world 🙂
Mohamed said, it is called Asia now this part is connected to Asia cool right :")
Across from this on the other side we came from is the compound for the Pres of Egypt, a wonderful Villa and a Mosque and a huge guest house and all this near the Canal, very grand and, yet not overdone.
With all I saw today can you believe I forgot the CAMERA :((( what a dummy right?
Well, I just wanted to share this with you since it was an exciting day and in my minds eye a memory I wish I had with pictures.
I wanted to share this with you before I fly home to USA. If only I had pictures
Eve,
It’s a shame you didn’t have a camera with you… 🙁
Anyways, it must have been a memorable day for you.
As I do, I believe you like simplicity.
Actually I think people who have the ability to find beauty in the simplicity of people, places, acts and words are blessed ones.
I think you have this blessing.
Sometimes my mother catches me watching people passing by my house and asks me what I’m doing. I say that I’m trying to see people. In fact I’m trying to find what makes each person unique and special.
This trip you have may have been a good opportunity of exercising this kind of behaviour, right?
Next time have a camera on you, ok?
Dan
I guess that living abroad is a cool experience, living in Egypt must be the best. My dream is going over to Paris with some (the) girl I love, maybe then I will be able to blog such amazing posts like yours :p
HI Kay,
Thank you for the compliment, I really need to work on my vocab, someone was mentioning about a dictionary for Opera I don’t have on here I have one in IE .
Do you know of one?
Eve
HI Dan,
I am happy to hear your words, thank you
I have a nice digital camera and I hardly carry it with me .. go figure that out LOL
A lot of places here mostly Millitary do NOT allow pics and for this reason I probably don’t take the camera.
If you go to places like the Museum they charge you more for the camera even at the Pryamids too .. They know how much those pics are worth to YOU so they must make a profit .
I do like simple things and I can find beauty in an ant 🙂
I too like to do people watching, it allows me to figure things out better no matter where I am 🙂
Eve
Sounds like you had a wonderful day!
Don’t worry about having no pictures to show us. Just TELL us what you saw.
Your image sketches were wonderful!
Thanks!

HI Eztigma,
When you travel you will see things so much differnt than what you are use to and sometimes it’s beautiful and sometimes not.
Each time the picture you are looking at changes even if it’s the same location .
Nothing is forever, change is unstopable.
Thanks for reading my journal
Eve
