Rockerfeller Center Christmas Tree 2007

Mother Earth

Again this year the tree is coming from Connecticut,
I find that hard to believe that there aren't any other locations with
great trees to share 🙂

Here is a link for the video which shows them cutting down the tree
to transport it to New York City.

The tree is traditionally decorated with at more than 30,000 lights
and topped with a Swarovski crystal star.

Tree cutting

I hope all can view it?

Enjoy,

  1. Yeah, I wanted to write the same thing!Hmmm… Swarowski crystal star? Sounds expensive… and I’m not surprised…

  2. Hi Andreu and Rolling T.It’s a custom each year they get a tree from various states, the past 2 yearsit has come from my state, Connecticut.America has celebrated Christmas around the Rockefeller Center Tree since 1931, when Rockefeller Center was still a muddy construction site. It was a Christmas darkened by the Great Depression, and workmen proudly placed their tree in the dirt that meant jobs. That first tree celebrated the indomitable human spirit as much as Christmas, and the workmen received their precious Christmas Eve paychecks around its sprightly green branches. The first tree from outside the United States was erected in 1966. Canada gave it to Rockefeller Center in honor of the centennial of its confederation. The 1970s spread the environmental movement throughout the United States, and since 1971, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has been recycled after it is removed from its pedestal. The average tree provides 3 tons of mulch for ground cover and other horticultural uses.I found this on the net it really describes the reasoning behind the tradition ..Thank you for asking both of you and yes, Swarowski is expensive and also the best
