Snow Covered Cars

After dealing with driving in snow and fearing my life due to lazy people
I decided to vent here.

This photos is bad however, I have seen worse, just recently a man cleared only
a hole large enough to see out the front window not the back or the sides.

I found this page concerning just my rage and I asked myself WHY don't they have
laws for this problem and only yesterday I found they do have laws however, most
police do not enforce the law 🙁

New Haven (WTNH) _ Ice flying off the roofs of cars and trucks are putting people's lives and vehicles at risk.

Drive up and down the highway and you're sure to see plenty of vehicles with ice on their roofs. State police say it's not only dangerous but it is also illegal.

Mary Jacques of Wolcott was driving on I-691 when a piece of ice shattered her windshield. "I heard a loud crack and realized my whole windshield was shattered, realized it was a hunk of ice that hit my car, not snow," she said.

A piece of ice that launched off an oil truck hit Mary's windshield like a rocket, even pushing shards of glass into her SUV.

"I couldn't believe it could shatter a whole windshield that quick. We were glad it didn't come through. It hit pretty hard, we were doing 60-65 miles per hour," Mary said.

Drivers often find themselves swerving out of the way to avoid an icy missle simply because vehicles are not properly cleaned. State police have fielded numerous complaints since this last blast of winter weather.

Dominic Simeone of Lombard Motors towed a big rig Tuesday after ice from a truck slid off and severed its air brakes. His company has been busy towing cars and trucks wounded by ice and he's even been a victim himself.

"I think it's laziness, carelessness, but you gotta think of everyone else," said Simeone. "Last year I was on my way to a call on Middletown Avenue and a sheet of ice came off a car the opposite way and it took my mirror off one of the wreckers."

State police say they will cite drivers who keep their vehicles armed with snow and ice. The ticket could cost you more than $100.

As for Mary's car – it was the scare of the season and she hopes it won't be repeated. "At least that's fixable, at least nobody got hurt. I'm glad,"

There are many sites concerning this problem and I am not alone 🙂

Thanks for reading.
