Do you get what you pay for?????

Hi All,

I just wanted to let you know about my so called peaceful day off LOL < this is funny>

I ordered a few weeks ago business cards from this online company …. vistaprint.com

An auction friend of mine sent me her card and on the back was the web address so I logged on and checked out the site and it stated 250 free business cards just pay the shipping … HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I did the online business card and it came out really well I was sooooooo proud of it and paid the fees for non fast shipping it came to around 5 dollars and change.

After the order confirmation a screen came up and asked me for my opionion and I could get $10.00 of my next order… soooooooooooooo I did the survey.

After I completed the long list of questions< thinking I am helping Vistaprint.com out > and also getting $10.00 off my next order… I filled out the blanks they asked for and as soon as I hit send.

BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

It states it's a site for a FUN PASS … WELL was I PISSED !!!!

It said I joined some memembership and if I didnt cancel it the card I paid for my printing order would be charged $12.95….

I rec'd a confimation email from this FUN thingy and I have been trying to find it and I just found it the other day and canceled it and also called the 888 number to cancel it.

I wrote to both vistaprint.com and this FUN <NOT> membership and told them I am so upset about being faked into this survery thingy and how dare them take my financial info to their company.

I checked my bank account online today and noticed they took out the $12.95 and also refunded me the same amount back.

I wrote to Vistaprint and told them I will NEVER order from them and also will spread the word thru the auction community NOT to order from them.

So did I get what I paid for????

I am happy I had the day off to deal with this crap.

🙂 Eve

  1. Hi Eve,

There are so many things like this, on the net, these days. What happened to you was almost a ‘scam’, in the sense that it implied one thing and then delivered something completely different. I say almost, because a real scam is where you don’t get your money back. This sort of ‘scam’ often happens here (UK).

It’s usually a “get rich quick” scheme that’s on offer, or a service, e.g., plumber, builder who are offering their ‘product’ at prices that seem unbelievable -and turn out to be just so. Our TV channels do ‘exposures’ of these people, from time to time, by sending one of their reporters along posing as a normal member of the public. As the reporter discusses the ‘deal’ with the ‘scammer’ the reporter has a micro camera and sound recording equipment hidden on his body and we – the TV viewer- can see what happens. It would all be incredible, were it not for the fact that these ‘scammers’ are then caught on tape, so to say.

The other type of ‘con’ or ‘scam’ is much more serious and we must all be vigilant. It usually emanates from Nigeria but is increasingly being emulated by sources now in eastern Europe, notably Russia and Romania, and it is as follows. An email is sent to you or me that starts something like this:

“Dear Sir, I have a million dollars (or pounds) that I want to transfer out of my country but the corrupt government here is stopping me. So I can’t get my hands on my own money, officially.Would you please help me? Can I transfer this sum to your bank account? If you will give me your bank account details I will do this. I will pay you xxxx$/£ for your cooperation but before I can do this you would have to send me a token payment of xxx$/£ to enable me to cover some expenses and so forth. here’s my bank account details for your money transfer. Looking forward to hearing from you and rewarding you handsomely when I have transferred my total funds to your account, after your payment to me.”

Of course I have used my own words to show you what I mean but these email ‘scams’ are along the lines that I describe. There are some variations that talk about enormous fortunes to be made in investments -usually in gold or diamonds and so on- and invite a contribution, with the “absolute guarantee that you will have a fabulously certain result and become very wealthy”. Again, I paraphrase, but anyone who has ever received emails along these line will know what I am describing.

Fortunately, you were only ‘conned’ in a way that did not retain your funds and you got your money back. I am so glad to hear this 🙂 But in the cases of other people?…well, as the crude saying goes …”there’s one born every minute…”. The would-be perpetrators of these frauds have no morals, no concerns, no qualms whatsoever about cheating someone else.

love and peace, as always, to you dear friend.

  2. They are so easy to perpetuate and you have countless victims at hand – what makes it even easier is that you don’t even need to go to them, the victims will come to you! You just have to be really wary about using your credit card online, sites like these lend credence to the negative side of online shopping.

Another site that I found that adds charges to the total bill by discreetly checking options on the side of the actual charge is http://www.tv.org. This site actually never tells you what the total charge to your credit card is going to be prior to completing the transaction – after which it is too late.

I am glad though that you got your money back 🙂

As for the Nigerian scams – you have to give them credit for being amongst the most resourceful criminals in the world. It’s a pity though that the Nigerians have been shown in such a negative light – the only thing a Nigerian is linked to in South Africa is drugs and crime syndicates. I believe that Nigeria has got some really progressive and forward-thinking initiatives – both welfare and technology related – and it’s directly related to their high intelligence.

  3. i used vistaprint twice… once for free and then i paid for my own design to be printed. no problem like you described. but what has happened to me doing surveys…. they start with “get a free laptop” in my e-mail and just fill out a couple of surveys… maybe join netflix and then you’ll get the laptop. never again. i spent a long time on this… as i went along they just kept on adding more things i had to do. more places where i had to put my credit card number in for some nominal payment or proof of identity.

you don’t get anything for free.
the time it takes to make phone calls and write letters is really irritating.

i’ve been trying to quit ancestry.com for a year and a half. they just keep docking my account often causing an overdraft which i have to pay $29 for each time. i don’t know what to do. i’ve written them e-mails, cancelled online. made calls everytime they dock my credit card. this month alone they cost me $58 in overdrafts $49 and $29 in surprise drains. that’s $140 rounded out. it’s criminal. if i had any money i would sue them to the hilt for the agravation and bad marks on my credit history.

yesterday i called them and this guy steve says the computer is automatic…. how lame is that for an answer. today i wrote to them and circled the amounts i will have the bank refund to me…

i resent having to take the time to do all this.
now i don’t want anything for free… that money world out there is so riddled with lies you could say we are in the “Age of Lying”
    let’s just be careful.

  4. HI Artman

Nice to hear from you again 🙂

I think you have to threaten them with BBB and also if it’s online you can say you will get the FBI included since it’s FREUD and done online it will go to the FBI.

I do understand the amount of time it takes to try to straighten these kinds of things out and it’s very upsetting to be spoken to like you are brainless .

If you need any help from me let me know I do well on the phone and NO ONE gets past me 😉

I had problems with MCI years ago, infact the stupid salesmen asked me out on a date… WEll this didn’t sit well with his stupidvisior LOL

It took me 5 months to get RID of MCI and I finally did it …

good luck and let me know if you need me to help you there isn’t any reason why they are still charging you .. OH also you can tell your bank to reject any transfer of this company , you have to fill out papers but it can be done so there won’t be any more direct withdrawal of YOUR money.

    Keep me posted ok?

    Eve

  5. HI My Friend Lokutus 🙂

Yes I have seen this Nigera thingy before and did’t accept that too.

I did get my business cards and they are nice and all butttttttttttt I didn’t need the added stress of this stupid membership club.

No more MS Nice LADY LOL

  6. hi eve!

I read about all this vistaprint saga and it reminded me of when I ordered http://www.ubuntulinux.com">Ubuntu Linux. I know it’s not the same kind of stuff but at first I didn’t believe the fact that they would send me all the cd’s I ordered for free, they wouldn’t even charge me for the delivery (which by the way I was willing to pay).

So, I ordered 17 cd’s, it was a package of about 2 pounds and guess what? They actually got here to MX.

I’ve never had any problems with this scam things, not even when ordering stuff from think geed or buying cd’s from CD Universe (el cual recomiendo bastante, dicho sea de paso). Today I got a new Dream Theater cd and one I order for my sister in law. I like to buy things online a lot, I got my black-flys and several things from thinkgeek.com without any problem.

It would be nice that none of us had any problems ordering things online.

  7. by the way, I couldn’t help it and ordered my own free vistaprint.com cards … let’s see where this takes us :s

  8. Hello all,I am new to this site. How did I find it? Today I was scammed by VistaPrint and did a Google search on “VistaPrint Scam” and up came this blog. I had the same experience as Eve – word for word!! I was furious! So after getting nowhere with VistaPrint or their “affiliate” Business Max, I wrote a letter to my Attorney General, reported them to the BBB & Consumer Affairs! I will not stop until they are shut down. I believe this could fall under Mail Fraud (as Eve mentioned), so I think I’ll contact a friend of a friend in the FBI!!! I’ll let you all know what happens. Thanks for listening.dsam

  9. HI Dsam,Wow what a story and I do know what you mean, I did get my money back and stopped that other company from doing any business with me.I am now signed up with a book club and not very happy with their policies as well.. Scammers Keep me posted.Eve
